Peripheral Impact Zone

The Peripheral Impact Zone (PIZ) is comprised of 42 villages from the four surrounding districts to the NT2 NPA with a total population of 22,700 people. Livelihood practices vary dependent on ethnicity and geographical situation of each village but all rely on agricultural practices, trading, and other off-farms activities. Therefore, villagers living in the PIZ, have the potential to exacerbate major threats to the NPA. The WMPA’s policy and visions are to support villagers in the PIZ to become close partners and to prevent encroachment into the NNT NPA through awareness raising, training and supporting other developing exercises.
